TEST, 2019
In the darkness of the room, a free-standing steel gate is erected, with its two wings opening silently from time to time. They remain wide open for a brief moment, only to plunge back into their resting position and crash into one another filling the space with an intense noise. The gate without a fence performs the gestures of opening and closing not in space, which it could not limit, but in time. It points out the limitedness of the happening within the continuous flow of time. With his work TEST (2019), FRIEDRICH ANDREONI took up several aspects of his previous work, combining the kinetic with the static in a monumental gate that leads into the void. As its thundering noise gives way to a silence, it evokes a feeling of duration, if not eternity.

Im Dunkeln des Raumes auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite ist ein freistehendes Stahltor errichtet, dessen Flügel sich von Zeit zu Zeit lautlos öffnen, sperrangelweit eine Weile verharren, um ihrer Ruheposition wieder entgegenzustürzen und krachend ineinander zu fallen. Das Tor ohne Zaun vollzieht die Geste der Öffnung und Schließung eines Durchgangs nicht im Raum, den es nicht zu begrenzen vermag, sondern gleichsam in der Zeit als die Begrenztheit des Ereignisses in der Ruhe der Ereignislosigkeit. FRIEDRICH ANDREONI griff mit TEST (2019) gleich mehrere Aspekte seiner bisherigen Arbeiten auf und verband Kinetisches mit Statischem in einem monumentalen Tor, das in die Leere führt und dessen donnernder Lärm einer Stille weicht, die ein Gefühl von Dauer, wenn nicht Ewigkeit vermittelt.
