The video work Sometimes (2024) commissioned by the Fondazione Claudia Cardinale, explores the underground water system of Fontainebleau. Recorded in the Chapelle Notre Dame de la Persévérance in Barbizon, once the studio of French painter Théodore Rousseau, the haunting rendition of Odetta’s "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child" loses its sharpness, melding with the chapel’s atmospheric space. Andreoni takes this ethereal recording into the Renaissance-era water system beneath Fontainebleau, following and filming the ancient water paths. An invitation to reflect on the themes of origin, loss, and the search for belonging, as the water flows like a lifeline through the silent, ancient architecture. The juxtaposition of the delicate ballad with the cold, subterranean passages evokes a poignant meditation on the elemental connection to water, the first experience of life, and the profound sense of loss and belonging.
